Subject: Geology of Portugal

 

Scholarity:

2/0/0; 2.0 UC; 4th year / 2nd semester.

 

Objectives:

To offer a general global vision of the geological characteristics od the continental territory and the Portuguese insular; to know the tectonic and sedimentary evolution in the global tectonic context of Europe.

 

Qualifications

Development of qualifications for the interpretation, integration and synthesis of geological data of several natures. Development of qualifications of organization and team work.

 

Programme Contents

Theoretical:

Characterization of the big morphostructural units and its fitting in the geology of Europe. Geological history of the continental territory and the Portuguese insular. Seismicity and neotectonics in Portugal.

 

Methodologies of Teaching:

Theorectical formal classes.

 

Evaluation:

Written theorectical exame (100%).

 

Pre-requirements:

Geodynamics and Stratigraphy and Paleontology.

 

Observations:

The theorectical classes of this subject is common to the graduation of Teaching of Biology and Geology.
