Subject: Field Geology III/Tutorial

 

Scholarity:

0/2/0; 1.5 UC; 2nd year / 2nd semester.

 

Objectives:

Deepning of knowledge of the field work techniques in geosciences: orientation techniques; geological cartography; structural measurement and interpretation techniques; data handling.

 

Qualifications:

Development of qualifications on relationship and application of concepts given in different subjects. Acquisition of qualifications on planning, structure and execution of practical investigations. Development of organizational capacities and team work.

 

Programme Contents:

Field campaign of 1 week duration, for deepning of knowledge on the following topics: observation and description of the principal geologic aspects in the field; geological cartography; structural measurement and interpretation techniques; data collection; sampling; preparation of charts and cuts.

Tutorials:

Handling of data obtained in office and the petrographic laboratory. Planification, elaboration and presentation of a report and/or poster.

 

Methodologies of Teaching:

Field classes and tutorials.

 

Evaluation:

Continuous and written report or poster appreciation.

 

Pre-requirements:

General Geology and Field Geology I.

 

Observations:

The tutorials of these classes will function with the same rules of the laboratorial practical classes (maximum ner. of students: 15; fault regimen; accounting for the Teaching service).
