Scholarity:

2/0/4; 3.5 UC; 3rd year / 2nd semester.

Objectives:

Introduction to basic concepts of superficial and underground hydrology: fundamental concepts and equations of fluid motion, formation and characterization of precipitation; physical principles that control the superficial draining; measurement of hydrological variables; modelation of the behaviour of the hydrological basins; underground flow. Applications. Quality and management of hydrical resources.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and comprehension of the fundamental concepts of hydrology and its applications. Development of practical qualifications in the domain of techniques on prospection, evaluation, exploration and management of hydrical resources.

Programme Contents:

Theoretical:

Hydrological cycle; superficial and underground cycle; hydrographical basins; meteorology and climatology; precipitation; soil humidity; evapotranspiration; infiltration; superficial draining; hydrometry; analysis of hydrogrammes; hydraulic management and exploitation; study of the floods; introduction to underground hydrology; hydraulic and environmental legislation and regulation.

Practical:

Precipitation parameters; calculation of evapotranspiration; hydrical examination; superficial flows; hydrogrammes analysis; lagoon loads; underground flows; law of Darcy; propagation of contaminantes; study of the floods.
