Subject: Drillings

Scholarity:

2/1/2; 3.5 UC; 4th year / 2nd semester.

 

Objectives:

Introduction to the theoretical principles of the different techniques of subsoil exploration: drillings. Applications in engineering problems. Planning of diverse types of drillings.

 

Qualifications:

Knowledge and comprehension of the  theoretical principles of the different techniques of subsoil exploration and its applications in engineering. Aquisition of practical qualifications in the planning of drillings and result interpretation.

 

Programme Contents:

Theoretical:

Techniques of subsoil exploration. Drillings by auger. Percurssion drillings. Static penetration drillings. Drillings with pressuremeter. Geometric characteristics of the drillings; Rotative drillings with bearer retrievel; Sud-aquatic drillings; Coating tubes; Rotary drillings; Turboperfuration; Petroleum drillings; Drilling muds; roto-percussive; Directioned drillings; Filters; Equipment manufactors; Planning of the diverse types of drillings.

Theoretical and Practical and Practical:

Planning of diverse types of drillings; result interpretation; study trips to drilling zones.

 

Methodologies of Teaching:

Theorectical, theorectical and practical and practical formal classes. Field trips to drilling zones.

 

Evaluation:

Written theorectical exame (60%) and written practical exame (40%).

 

Pre-requirements:

Mechanics of the Soils, Applied Geophysics II.
